Nina died early Sunday morning, February 26, 2017 at Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro’s Beacon Place, after living two-plus years with breast cancer. Her book, The Bright Hour: A Memoir of Living and Dying, is available for preorder on Amazon. You can link here to her obituary as well as information on and an RSVP for the memorial service, planned for Monday March 13, 2017 at the New Garden Friends Meeting in Greensboro.

    Thank you for letting us, your readers, know. I wish you and your boys and the rest of the family the time to grieve however you need to, without too many musts and needs and shoulds. I wish you strength and courage and patience and (whatever’s necessary) for the time after that. The part where you carry on living, when someone you love doesn’t. I wish you so much love and understanding from the people who surround you, that they’ll know what you can stand and maybe even appreciate, without guilting you into doing things you don’t want to do [yet] or having to act thankfull for something you’d rather they hadn’t done. In short, I wish you all the best, in a time where pretty little seems best at all.
